Recently, Sweetwater County has had issues with private motocross tracks being built in residential subdivisions. The individuals that have constructed them are not charging admission to utilize the tracks and are only using them for personal use. Has anyone else had this issue in the state and how do you treat these types of facilities.





The city of Laramie has accessory uses that are associated with residential zone districts. This list details what is allowed and if not listed would not be permitted. A motocross track would not be a permitted accessory use.

The City of Gillette has also experienced this issue. We also have accessory uses that are incidental and customarily associated with the permitted use for our residential districts. The use of a residential property for a motocross track wouldn't be allowed as it doesn't meet the accessory use standards in the Zoning Ordinance.
